Antique one of a kind Armenian Kazak pictorial rug featuring charming large dog and horse figures. The dogs are the Armenian Heritage mastiff breed Gampr which are highly prized for their prowess herding and protecting sheep. The imagery is a joyful representation of pastoral life in the high rugged mountains of Armenia.
Size: 3'11"x8’5”
Age: Original woven in date of 1927 (later altered to 1897)
Origin: Armenian Kazak, SW Caucasus
Materials: Hand knotted hand spun wool pile on a wool foundation.
Condition: Good condition with low pile over most of the rug. A few small spots of wear and some corrosion of the brown wool. Ready to enjoy and suitable for normal everyday use. Professionally hand washed.
