Antique Serapi Heriz Rug 10'10"x14'7" Late 19th Century
Antique Serapi Heriz Rug 10'10"x14'7" Late 19th Century
Late 19th century Serapi Heriz rug with a rare, possibly one of a kind, design in lustrous natural colors. The impression is bold, but graceful, with its elongated cruciform medallion floating on a navy ground free of corner spandrels. The large scale geometric blossoms, leaves, and tendrils are classic old school Northwest Persian. Colors include the variegated navy blue ground, reds ranging from translucent true red to brick, celadon green, aquamarine, jade green, cerulean blue, apricot, light walnut, pale salmon, black, and cream. The hand spun wool pile is very glossy and soft. Connoisseur quality.
