Antique Persian camel color Serab or Bakshaish runner with an enigmatic highly stylized vase or fire temple design. It is certainly rare and possesses exceptional wool and glowing colors. The weaver had a flair for fun as evidenced by random knots of different colors tossed into the plain camel ground like confetti. The attraction of this particular rug lies at so many levels, it is difficult to know why we are so drawn to it.
Size: 3’6”x11’0”
Age: Woven in date of 1313 or 1338 = 1896 or 1920
Origin: East Azerbaijan Province, NW Iran
Materials: Hand knotted handspun wool pile on a wool foundation. Natural dyes except for the pink.
Condition: Excellent condition overall with evenly low pile and a few small areas showing wear. Ready to enjoy and suitable for normal everyday use.
