Antique Persian Kurdish tribal rug from the Varamin region with a striking pattern of twelve polychrome rectangles each containing a stylized eagle motif. The same motif repeats around the white border. The effect of the simple design combined with a rhythmic array of vivid naturally dyed colors is visually inspiring full of warmth and clarity. A true tribal masterwork.

Age: Second half 19th century
Origin: Tribal Kurdish, Varamin area, north central Persia
Materials: Hand knotted handspun wool pile on a wool foundation. Natural dyes.
Condition: Good condition overall with low/flat pile, areas of slight wear, and a few scattered tiny restorations. As an authentic early tribal rug, it is not a perfect rectangle. Ready to enjoy and suitable for everyday use.
