Antique Serapi rug with stunning large scale tribal motifs in soft, time burnished, colors. It has an ancient naturalistic impression steeped in its rugged high mountain origins of East Azerbaijan Province some 160 years ago. Stylized trees, oak leaves, blossom palmettes, and various talismans, seem to float on the open plain. The weavers saw the power of negative space in their design and used it to great effect, accentuated by the subtle tonal variegations (abrash) through the length of the rug. Colors are all time softened and include variations of rust, brown, aquamarine, moss green, salmon, slate, and cream.

Materials: Hand knotted handspun wool pile on a cotton foundation. Natural dyes.
