Antique Persian Heriz Bakshaish rug in a design we’ve never seen before on a Heriz. This rug was woven in the 1920s, but the pattern can be traced to the so called “Lotto” Oushak rugs from the 16th and 17th centuries. The final photo shows a 400 year old fragment of a very similar “Lotto” Oushak that sold at Sotheby’s in June of 2020 for 12500 GBP. Our Heriz has remarkably rich colors from vegetable dyes and very lustrous wool. It stands apart as an exceptionally rare and beautiful rug.
