Antique Persian Sarouk Rug 9’0”x11’2” Rare Japonisme - Klimt Influenced Artwork
Rug No. 30428
Antique Persian Sarouk rug with a design and colorway clearly influenced by late 19th century/early 20th century European Japonisme Art. Both the design elements and colors in this, most likely a one off commissioned piece, are clearly relatable to motifs seen in many of Gustav Klimt's paintings. This is not to say that the design origins are Western, but that the art movements have a circuitous influence. The rug itself is finely woven with wool like velvet, soft and lustrous. The colors are subtle and organic with complex tones of navy blue, plum, mauve, cerise, emerald green, gold, taupe, and cream. Rare woven art for the floor.
