Antique Southwest Persian Luri tribal rug with a sparkling pattern of madder red diamond motifs on a navy blue ground. The margins are decorated with simple tree of life motifs in vivid baby blue, jade green, and lemon yellow. At the center of each diamond is a special star design in use since at least the 15th century. The reciprocating bird border, also of ancient origins, creates an impression of movement around the field. The rarely seen large size and near perfect original condition add to its collector quality stature.

Age: Late 19th to early 20th century
Origin: Luri (Lori) tribes, Southwest Persia
Materials: Hand knotted hand spun wool pile on a cotton and wool foundation. Natural dyes.
Condition: Near perfect original condition with lustrous low pile. A couple of very small repairs at the ends. Original fringes still intact. Ready to enjoy and suitable for normal everyday use. Professionally hand washed.
